[SoX-users] SoX 14.4.2 cannot play/record under Windows

Hi,

I am new to SoX, and am using Windows 7 64bit Ultimate with SP1.

When I type "sox -d out.wav" for recording, or "sox in.wav -d" for
playback, sox complains "Sorry, there is no default audio device
configured".

However these commands work very well with the previous version(14.4.1a) on
the same machine without any configuration.

I have tried both the EXE installer and the portable zip version, but
neither of them works.

So how to make this version works under Windows? Does it need some extra
configurations?

Thanks in advance!

I had the same issue. Uninstall 14.4.2 and install 14.4.1

Oh~ this works! Thanks :)

But it has a small problem.
When I play a mono .wav file, sox breaks the audio output suddenly at about
0.5 sec from the end.
e.g. for a 2 seconds mono .wav file, sox only plays about 1.5sec, then
breaks suddenly.
Of course, this doesn't happen in 14.4.1.

Fortunately, I found a workaround, simply add "-c 2" to convert the audio
to stereo before playing:
sox p.wav -c 2 -t waveaudio

Well, it seems that the win32 version of 14.4.2 had not been fullly tested,
I'll still use 14.4.1.
